Messi tells Barcelona to eye move for Umtiti’s replacement

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has reportedly told the club’s chiefs to start planning for life without star defender Samuel Umtiti.

In recent months, the 24-year-old France international has been heavily linked with a move away from the current Spanish La Liga leaders.

Although the Frenchman is under contract with the Spanish giants until 2021, but talks over a new deal are yet to take place.

He has been linked with a move to Premier League champions Chelsea, Manchester United are also eyeing a move for the ex Lyon player.

And according to the latest report by Diario Gol, Lionel Messi has told Barcelona chiefs to make a move for Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt or Lille’s Clement Lenglet.

Lionel Messi believes that one of the young defenders would be an ideal replacement for Umtiti at the Nou Camp.

After a poor 2017-18 season, the Red Devils are plotting to offload most players considered unproductive at the end of this current season.

However, the France international has been identified as one of their top transfer target to ensure they compete favorably with their city rivals, Manchester City next term.
